Give it a try! This program began in Eng land and is now popular in a number of congregations in the U.S. It is a g reat way to become better acquainted with fellow parishioners. Once a year participants are assigned to mixed groups of 8-9 adults\, all ages\, coup les or singles. During the course of the following year the group meets on ce at each person’s home for a family meal. Singles often choose to “partn er-up” to share their turn at hosting the group. \n\nThat means you meet a bout four times during the year at the convenience of the people in your g roup. You host one and are a guest at the others. Usually the group meets for dinner or brunch\, but it is also fine for you to make arrangements fo r a dutch treat (i.e. each pays their own way) meal at a restaurant if you do not have space for the group. Some people have hosted a picnic in a pa rk or had a meal of chili and ice cream sundaes sitting around on the floo r in an apartment. A rental movie with a meal of soup and sandwiches has b een well received. The point is to get together and enjoy one another’s co mpany\, so it is OK to be creative about how you take your turn.\n\nOne pe rson/couple will be assigned to be a “convenor” to see that the group gets started – if you are willing to do this\, let me know. You do not have to host the first gathering\, just see that it happens.\n\nFoyer Kick-Off Wi ne and Cheese Party - Sunday\, Sepember 27at 5:00 pm at St. John’s. Nibble s you bring to share are welcomed but not required. Let Lloyd know if you would like to help with this party (food\, set-up\, clean-up). Lists of ne w groups will be available there and will be left on the credenza for pick -up later by anyone who cannot make the kick-off.
